The George Telegraph Training Institute was born in the last millennium and has stridden into its 93rd year, all along being dedicated in ‘Building Careers’ for the nation’s youth by way of imparting vocational training at affordable rates.

The GTTI has all along imparted education through more than fifty vocational courses to the youth of the nation with the sole objective to give them a career. It is perhaps more than successful in fulfilling the above objective, as the pages of history will reveal.

The GTTI all these years have worked towards the objectives of alleviating unemployment problem through providing the youth with job oriented training, empowered the youth of average merit with relevant set of skills and guided him towards a successful career .

The GTTI from one training centre in Sealdah, Kolkata in 1920 has expanded to more than 50 centres across the eastern states of India imparting training to more than 25000 students in a year.

Heritage ::

George Telegraph was established on 16th May, 1920 in response to the potential gravity of the unemployment problem in India. A registered trust dedicated to human resource development to the requirement of Indian industry, is one of the pioneers of industrial training in India.

Within a brief period of establishment, George Telegraph was recognised as a centre of excellence by diverse bodies such as the British Army, the British Railway Board, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, Department of Labour, Government of India, Railway Board, New Delhi, Maritime authorities and various Chambers of Commerce.

Today, it offers a most comprehensive range of training programmes in the fields of electronics engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, commercial practice, communicative studies and computer software through a network of centres in Eastern India.

The only Institute in India and Burma selected by the Government of India for training of British Non-Commissioned Officers and men of the British Army throughout India and Burma.

One of only three organisations in India to function as an Examination Centre for Proficiency, First and Second Class, COP/ROGC/REG/RT(R)/RITM (Maritime) conducted by the Ministry of Communications, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.

Placement Cell :
We at George Telegraph believe in the end result, we not only hand out certificates, we help our students to get foothold for themselves in the industry and carve out a niche for themselves in the society and live respectfully with their heads held high up. The Corporate Communication Cell maintains a close liaison with various industries to facilitate placement of our students after their course.This Cell also arranges hands on training for our students in different industries related to their field of studies. The George Telegraph Training Institute has a centralised Placement Cell in Kolkata which maintains a computerised database of all its registered successful students. Any former student of the Institute may register, provided the alumnus can produce the relevant mark sheets of both academic and vocational qualification along with proof of age. Our placement cell remains in continuous touch with our students and maintain a database of successful students and organizes campus interviews. After completion of a course students are trained on how to apply for jobs and face interviews. Their personal grooming is also taken care of. The Placement Cell is unique in that it not only provides a free service to our students, but also attempts to build a lifelong bond by assisting in placement throughout the working life of our alumni. The heritage and the reputation of the Institute guarantees a steady stream of enquiries for candidates from mercantile firms, government organisations and other institutions.
